Winamp is a free multimedia player made by Nullsoft. It supports numerous audio and video formats. It also plays streamed video and audio content, both live and recorded, authored worldwide. It has an extremely customizable media library, and allows you to rip and burn your favorite music CDs. Winamp has thousands of skins and plug-ins that allow you to change the look-and-feel of the player, as well as add new features. The player also has access to thousands of free songs, videos and online radio stations from SHOUTcast Radio and AOL Radio with XM.

Pros
The player is lightweight and uses no PC recourse. Easy to customize, even the tags, and playlists. Very few apps of this kind can crossfade so seamlessly. It can normalize the sound level of each track and can export m3u playlists. It keeps track of statistics about playing (how often, when, unplayed tracks, etc). Advanced skins are available in the Winamp forum site.
Cons
It was bought by a French company who simply drowned its progress as it was becoming too successful. The website claims "There's more coming soon" for over 5 years now. (Is 10 years soon then?). No support since 2000.
Summary
Despite not being upgraded, it is still the most advanced mp3 player out there. If you are serious mp3 enthusiast then this is for you. Bulky iTunes is very unfriendly to mp3 and won't deliver the statistics or customizability that Winamp can. It's free and will not make you dependent on 3rd party software or formats (Apple + Mac association)
Works well on Win7, hope new release will be ASAP

Winamp offers a comprehensive GUI, utilizing audio rack design, which provides the user with a flexible playback, yet complete, listening environment; NONE of the current players come close to Winamp's quality or performance! Sound quality is superb through my dual amplifier driven speakers..
Cons
Sadly, Version 5.666 is the last release. (Maybe Winamp will be resurrected in the near future!)
Summary
Winamp pro edition is currently FREE and absolutely top notch! iTunes, MS' Groove and VL's audio quality leave much to be desired; Winamp is truly the best audio player for Win 10, nothing else comes close!

Pros
Winamp has been around for almost the history of the web. Its been my #1 player since v2.0. The number of skins is massive. Great eye candy plugins.
Cons
Won't play .flv files. Hard to find. Company seems to become unstable; takeovers, buyouts, etc. The future of Winamp is debatable and uncertain.
