Does anyone else ever think as they listen to this, that if so many of the people with anger, hurt and disappointment in this world who channel all their energy into wrong and destructive things, listened to this, that the thing that underpins us all - to love and be loved - would be revealed to them, more than any therapist or self-help book could achieve, and they might actually feel some healing. I haven’t articulated it so well here (as I find it hard to do so) but I feel this quite strongly. So many people are looking for fundamental love and acceptance and when I hear this, it just completely envelops me.
I used to teach in High School (Indonesia). I once proposed to my principal that the students who were problematic be sent to the choir practice for the whole year. Although some didn't change their ways after the project, most were reported to have demonstrated at least a slight change of behavior. And to some of them, it really had a lasting impact. That was probably one of the hallmarks of my entire life.. I was inspired by the movie Les Choristes
Your articulation is fine! I use thiis piece daily as a blessing for myself, on awakening. Music, song is one of the sweetest, most powerful gift from God. It is a fast channel to our spiritual self and the other side of life. (Btw, I used to ask that question about John Rutter, then I heard he was recognized for his great work with some title. Must seek that out.)
Healing, yes. And we do well to recognize how often we can return to this "musical medicine" --- daily, weekly...There's no ON/OFF button with healing; it's a process.
When I was a freshman in college I had orchestra practice in the same room that the choir rehearsed. We were always there early because there was always a rush to set up. The choir always ended with this song. It was my first introduction to choral music. The first time I heard them sing it I thought that's what heaven must sound like. It still moves my heart to hear it.
John Rutter is truly underrated and under appreciated. His music is so inspiring to hear and perform. Imagine how many souls have been saved because of the divine messages his music delivers.
Experiencing 'The Lord Bless You and Keep You' by John Rutter is truly moving. This beautiful piece resonates deeply, bringing serenity and grace to all who listen. Bravo to your dedicated singers for their heartfelt performance! 🎶🙏
I am so grateful to John Rutter -- and to our Lord for giving us John Rutter! His music is so magnificent: when I am stressed or discouraged, his music breathes peace into my soul. Thanks be to God and Brother John.
Early on, his compositions were sadly NOT very well liked by some conductors/singers. "Eccentric" being the word most often used. Those peoples' names will never be remembered by history. Rutter's name most certainly will be!
This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard of had the honor of singing. In college choir we closed out every performance with this piece.
Jestem organistą w Polsce w Zielonej Górze i od kilkunastu lat gram ten utwór na Nowy Rok - przepieknie błogosławieństwo Aaronickie. Rutter to wielki kompozytor obok Jennkinsa.
(Lyrics for translators) The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you To shine upon you and be gracious And be gracious unto you The Lord bless you and keep you The Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon you The Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon you And give you peace, and give you peace; And give you peace, and give you peace.
My church choir joined in this year. What a blessing and pleasure to sing such beautiful with John Rutter, the composer, conducting us. I love his music.
The choir I´m in at my university started singing this yesterday at our last rehearsal and I love this piece. John Rutter has written so many beautiful pieces and I feel lucky to be familiar with his work having sung several of his pieces in an all-female chamber choir during my school days
I love John Rutter and grateful to my High School choir Teacher for teaching us these beautiful works of Art. It will be with me until the day I die.🙏🏽
...and all things come to those who wait. He promises to bless us with blessing, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, overflowing, and if you wait for it with unshakeable faith in His goodness, it will come....
This majestic and solemn chorus is beyond description , splendid , impressive , and full of admiration and emotion , and comfortable to the ear and the mind
I wish I could click the thumbs up every time this comes up in my playlist -- not only is Rutter's setting incredible in its own right, the quality of the vast number of voices here brings a wideness to its meaning. Thank you for giving this to us!
This choir actually seems to believe their music, vs. Certain Other Choirs'. Rutter's music is so blessed! He got my dad who claimed he could only sing "four notes" at the deep-base end to join a choir for twenty years before his nerve disease overtook in his 90's after I recorded Rutter's recordings for my beloved parents' cassette tape player (my parents are the beloved, but that cassette player did blast a lot of great music over the years!).
Outstanding, Thank you Every singer must have been touched by God to sing as they did. How wonderful if all prayers would be so beautifully prayed to God and meant.
Such a powerful choral piece, sung so wonderfully by all the vocal members. John Rutter does such a fine job directing all to perfection. His singers reach the heart then the emotions travel to the soul!
The Lord Bless You and Keep You is a beautiful and well written piece of music. Its also very moving and full of emotion. He has composed such lovely music its hard to know which one to choose as a favourite. Everyone has different views on music which is good otherwise only one piece would be chosen from many others.
A prayer for all of us in these Covad days. Thoughtful Prayers for Serious Believers. A forty day prayer guide for these troubling days. Available on Amazon.
The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you To shine upon you and be gracious And be gracious unto you The Lord bless you and keep you The Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon you, The Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon you And give you peace, and give you peace; And give you peace, and give you peace.
The voices of the women are so beautiful. High quality air flowing so sweetly from their lungs. This is the first time that I've heard such a measure of collective excellence since the Luton Girls Choir.
The Lord bless you and keep you: The Lord make His face to shine upon you, To shine upon you and be gracious, and be gracious unto you The Lord bless you and keep you: The Lord make His face to shine upon you, To shine upon you and be gracious, and be gracious unto you The Lord lift up the light Of His countenance upon you, The Lord lift up the light Of His countenance upon you, And give you peace, And give you peace, And give you peace, And give you peace Amen Amen Amen Amen Amen Amen
+Grell Sutcliffe I was touched very deeply by your comment. I too enjoy this song. I sung and hummed it several times today already. Have you ever read the book Great Controversy by E.G.White. It reads about the conflict between good and evil through the ages. You may find it very interesting. You should be able to listen to it or read it online free. Please let us know if you've read it.
I have yet to read it, and it is not quite in my reading list yet, but I might take a look at it. (Right now I mainly want to read Death Note novels, Hamlet and Macbeth, but this might be another one of my goals). I sure do hope that I will understand everything in this book, though, as I am not native English speaker.
+Grell Sutcliffe Well the book I mentioned is written in several languages and you may be able to find it in your native tongue. I don't know what language you speak though. another lovely book by E.G. White is entitled : Desire of Ages.
The song is based off of Numbers 6:24-26. I am singing this in a choir, as well, and I really love it. It really speaks to me in its beauty and meaning. I am going through difficult times, but everytime I hear it, it gives me peace...
Beautiful.. I know this song and we already sung this piece during our concert way back in 2002 as our last song to give blessings to those who are present. Good harmony.. 🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼♩🎹😍

My high school chamber choir traveled to England to sing with him as our conductor 40+ years ago. A truly exhilarating and spiritual moment.
You guys are blessed 🙏😊
The Amens are what I hope to hear one day in heaven ❤️

I begin my days listening to this precious hymn....and bless myself through it. ❤️🙏🙄
You were so lucky!!! 🎶🙏♥️
Beautiful. This brought a tear to my eye to be honest, to hear another person expressing such gratitude.
I love this song... and it was sung by the choir when my son on their wedding day asked blessings from us the parents
Still can’t work out why our wonderful John Rutter isn’t SIR John Rutter yet. The man’s a legend.
That thought occurred also to me.
John Rutter is truly underrated and under appreciated. His music is so inspiring to hear and perform. Imagine how many souls have been saved because of the divine messages his music delivers.
@@tradomeg2502 I did not know that. Now ever so more impressed by the man!
So beautiful and inspirational! God’s Blessings for bringing this here!

I am so grateful to John Rutter -- and to our Lord for giving us John Rutter! His music is so magnificent: when I am stressed or discouraged, his music breathes peace into my soul. Thanks be to God and Brother John.
Well said. We are so fortunate mate.
I share the same thoughts and emotions as you and Warren

I agree. His music is sublime.
Wish the whole world would join together to sing with this wonderful choir this beautiful hymn to the Almighty Heaven on earth !
What a lovely thought.
Praise the Lord!

He is a national treasure for the British Empire. He richly deserves the honor. But what do i know? I’m only an american.

So very beautiful and soul restoring.
The voices of the women are so beautiful. High quality air flowing so sweetly from their lungs. This is the first time that I've heard such a measure of collective excellence since the Luton Girls Choir.
Me and my choir sang this on the funeral of our choir's master in march this year.
They should have played that at the olympics in Paris ❤❤❤

Love this music! What an amazing/brilliant music composer. :)
Judy Moses agreed Judy-how awesome and moving is this!
What makes it interesting is that John Rutter is an atheist and he writes and arranges such beautiful church music.
What an amazing experience it would be to be directed by John Rutter on this piece!!
I absolutely love is song, even though I don't beleive in God. I am learning it with my choir right now and it is awesome.
