    • @rezh1999
      @rezh1999 Год назад +6

      They use twin back wheels for most heavy work plowing rear wheel actually so they use that 50hp in every way they could
      And the fact that engine and frame of tractor could take a beating and still work is why old tractor are better than new plastic ones
      Yes a 300hp john deere is better but need much more care with all the computer and sensitive parts

    I've been working on fixing up a 460. They are neat tractors. Beware the year, the first year production had many many transmission issues because the driveline was not built heavily enough to handle the power of the larger engines. International Harvester completely redesigned the transmission and offered a fix to all the early machines. Otherwise they are great machines. If you look at the underside of the transmission and see some welded patches or anything of that sort then you will know that the transmission has had a failure and been repaired.

    • @fk4515
      @fk4515 Год назад +2

      Ah yes The 460/560 the beginning of the end for IH. It was actually the rear end/final drives that were failing. I was expecting a "time to check the gas and fill the oil" quip the way that thing was smoking. Do you think the rings were bad when it was parked or did they get gummed up or frozen while it was taking a long rusty nap?

    Each time you did a field repair, I kept mentally urging success. I wanted to see the old tractor work and keep working. You may start a trend of people using abandoned equipment nursed into operation to farm land instead of going into outrageous debt for equipment the owner can't even work on! You got a good don't give up attitude that I think makes folks want to try to push their projects forward. Though I'm subbed, I usually watch and don't like a video cause I'm just one of thousands that watch and don't think it changes anything but the attitude you both portray was exceptional. Thanks for sharing these and hoping for all the success at the farm.

      If they are going to have a dedicated farm truck, when they already have multiple trucks already, shouldn't it have better traction? with either 4wd or a 200 engine and mudder type drive tires??? Dedicating a 2wd big block v8 truck with highway tires to exclusively farm use seems nonsensical to me. My dedicated farm truck, which I recently put back on the road after selling the farm, is a 1982 Dodge W150, 4wd with 225. and granny gear 4 speed. I recently removed the mudder tires for it's first Florida trip.

    Need to paraphrase another top automotive oriented channel, that started joking they were "the best 4x4 channel on YT" after playing around with a 4x4.
    This is now the "best farming channel on YT".
    Seriously though, I really enjoy your channel, and this farming section just makes it even better. As a child in the late 80s and early 90s our family and friends used to have vintage tractors (amongst others we had a 1942 Farmall H and a 1938 McCormick W12) which we used to take to tractor shows, compete in ploughing competitions and other fun stuff here in sunny South Africa. We had a small plot of land, almost the same setup as you guys have, where my dad (a mechanic) used that Farmall H to plant about the same size crop. :) Also was just for fun. Also with old, abandoned equipment. Was such an awesome time.
    Loving your channel! Keep up the good work!

    Kevin dropping the stick in the tank, or parts falling off, forgetting to turn fuel back on etc, etc, brings back many days I watched my dad wrench on outboard motors and other mechanical stuff. Quite realistic...

    Did they say if you can get it running. Your welcome to use. Pretty easy. Start. But going to need to rebuild the carburetor, that did the trick. No telling how much trash was in the tank, another great success . Thanks Kevin and Mook. Love you guys . ❤️💯👍

    I love all the videos! Our Big Red 250 was a life saver on the farm! Get a small trailer built for that Honda and you're set for carrying all your tools/fuel/supplies and get another for pulling equipment. Plus, I'm not sure how Iowa ATV/ATC laws work, but a slow moving vehicle sign on a "farm use" trailer keeps you from getting pulled over in IN....or used to anyway lol

    I was hoping you were going to do the farming thing again the spring this brings back good memories of my years growing up on a farm working until you couldn't see any more ,A really enjoyable video

    Wow, I really enjoyed that. We always watch for your car and truck stuff, but I really enjoyed watching you fix the tractor, prepare the ground, and then plant the beans. I've never seen that so up close. It was being there right with you. I'm originally from Connecticut and we had mostly dairy farms. My wife is from Wisconsin, so this stuff she knows well. For me it was great to see this little slice of farming.

    I'm so glad I got to learn fromy yalls channel. I've grown up around small engines with my father and loved it for years until I got my first little car, it wasn't carburatorated but it was something. Went from that to wanting my dream truck, a 1979 ford f150 4x4 with a 351 in it. Well low and behold my buddy I worm with has finally let me buy his 79 351 extended cab, long wheel and 4x4. This is my first carburatored truck and my dream to work on it to get it running since parked 6 years ago!

    I am having the best flashbacks to when I got the old 656 my grandpa got in trade running again after years of neglect and abuse. I will say that being a diesel, it didn't have the fuel and carb issues your 460 has! And it would have been absolute beast at the 1-point style of farming since both it's 3-point hitch and pto were completely worn out.But then there was the tragic hydraulic/transmission oil leak underneath the floorboard that I could never seem to keep patched. But oh my god would it pull anything you hooked to it! Sadly, I moved away and my grandpa scrapped it for something like $400. I guess you can't save them all no matter how much you wish you could.

    I really enjoy the farmer videos, it is a lot of fun and so fitting to the agricultural history of your area! I bet the neighbors get a kick out of it too, also that cat is a real character.

    I want to give a huge shoutout to you guys. You make some great videos, I like the balance of farming and classic car love, you remind me a bit of myself in real life. You do a great job of getting the point across that 1. farming doesn't have to suck or make you angry and 2. that you don't have to spend 10's of thousands of dollars to get high quality reliable and easy to fix cars or machinery.

    Being "allergic to the sun" has a name, it's called Achoo Syndrome! Me and my brothers have it, we'll go outside, it'll be crazy bright out, and we'll all start sneezing. It's pretty funny to see, as the oldest sneezes first, then onwards from there, with lil bro sneezing last.
